Dr. Belen Velastegui-Carey has been creating healthy and beautiful smiles since 2003 when she graduated from dental school in Ecuador. After moving to New York, she worked as a dental assistant for ten years before enrolling in a dental hygiene program. She was later accepted into the prestigious Advanced Placement Program for International Dentists at New York University College of Dentistry, where she graduated in 2016. Dr. Velastegui-Carey completed her General Practice Residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in 2017, where she continues to serve as an Attending Dentist, responsible for patient care and training residents.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Velastegui-Carey is dedicated to advancing her skills through continuing education and participates in the Full Mouth Rehabilitation Program at the New York Smile Institute. Since graduating from NYU, she has been practicing in Bayside, Queens for 7 years, offering patients a comprehensive approach that addresses both functional and aesthetic dental needs.
Dr. Velastegui-Carey decided to open her own practice to foster lasting relationships with her patients. Known for her friendly and outgoing nature, she takes pride in getting to know her patients and their families. This personal touch is why so many feel comfortable in her care and recommend her to friends and family.
When she's not caring for smiles, Dr. Velastegui-Carey enjoys spending time with her husband and introducing her two sons to the diverse foods and cultures New York has to offer. In her free time, she loves playing with her two dogs, traveling, and relaxing at home with her family. Her hobbies also include listening to music and podcasts, watching telenovelas, and savoring good food.
